VINTAGE English Silver Plated Oval Gallery Tea Drinks Serving Butlers Tray
A magnificent and very large vintage English silver plated (on copper) gallery tray. Perfect for serving afternoon tea or pre-dinner drinks – all you need is a butler to carry it into your elegant drawing room! Oval in shape and measuring an extremely generous 20.5 x 15.5 inches. The pierced gallery rail has cutout grab handles at either end and the plateau is beautifully chased with a classic pattern of flowers and foliage surrounding a blank central cartouche. The tray stands on four domed feet. Very solid and weighty. Offered for sale in very good vintage condition. It sits perfectly flat and the plate is still nice and bright. There are a few dark spots around the inside edge (see photos) and a very tiny shallow dent in the gallery (see photo) but nothing that you wouldn’t expect in a used item of this age and type. I sell a lot of these old trays and this is a fabulous example – unusually big and it has obviously been well cared for. Freshly cleaned and polished to a high shine. This large oval tray which dates from c1900 has silver plated fittings, silver plated gallery and is made of English oak. Quality Silver Plate EPNS Drinks Tray or Salver Made in England
This is a very stylish and quality bun footed silver plate (EPNS) drinks tray or salver with great looking scalloped rim. It is made by quality maker Barker Brother, England and you can se from the stamped pineapple mark. The tray is 27 cms in diameter sitting at a height of 2 cms on 3 bun feet. It is in overall good clean condition with the silver plate all in good order and it polishes to a very nice shine as you can see. There are several light scratches and swirl marks, as you can see from the images. Please do remember this is an old piece so do not expect it to look new.
