Fine Old Sheffield Plate Wine Tray / Salver With Cast Vine Leaf & Grape Border
FINE GEORGIAN OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE RECTANGULAR WINE TRAY / SALVER WITH CAST AND APPLIED VINE LEAF AND GRAPE BUNCH BORDER. THERE IS A GRYPHON’S HEAD RAMPANT STAMPED ON THE UNDERSIDE. THIS IS IN LOVELY ANTIQUE CONDITION WITH SOME COPPER BLEEDING THROUGH THE OUTER SILVER SURFACE. THE SALVER SITS NICELY ON ITS FOUR FEET. THE SALVER WAS PROBABLY MADE c1830. 445mm (17 1/2″) X 280mm (11″) X 25mm (1). A Fine Quality Silver Plated Trophy By Christofle for Rallye Aerien. Luc Lanel
A Silver Plated Trophy. This trophy has been silver plated. There are a pair of handles on the sides. That have a ball connection at the top end and slot into a wooden turned collar. Stylistically this is so art deco. Made by Frances top silversmith Christofle. This could be a Luc Lanel design the form is correct. Engraved on the trophy is. 17 -18 July 1937. This is a air rally from Great Britain to Deauville in Northern France. When posting i will take this apart the handles unthread and so does the base. There is a slight nibble to the timber where the handle slots in very hard to see. A slight dink on the baseand some rubbing on the plate. This trophy is in good condition. 29cm x 25cm x 14cm. Fine PAIR GEORGE III OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE Neoclassical CANDLESTICKS c1785 11. Fine PAIR GEORGE III OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE Neoclassical CANDLESTICKS c1785 11 Inches Period: Georgian c1785. Mm tall (11 inches). Hallmarks: mark inside one sconce (photographed) probably a workmans mark. Condition: Good, considering age. There is an old solder repair to one of the candlesticks where the top meets the column (see photo 3) it is a relatively clean repair but the little knop is now missing which makes the candlestick slightly shorter than the other. One nozzle looks like a close match replacement as the beading is different. Otherwise just some little dings, dents and surface scratches – nothing too heavy. Warm copper tones bleeding through, mainly on raised parts. Areas of black tarnishing that will polish off. Some old wax residue, mainly inside the slots that could easily be removed. WHAT A FABULOUS ANTIQUE HALLMARKED GEORGE III ENGLISH SILVER MEAT PLATE. IT IS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY. And of a good weight and very special being in such fine order. A quite fabulous early 19th Century hallmarked silver item. It has a most attractive shape. Made in London and is dated 1815 and by top maker Thomas Robins. It is a wonderful oval meat plate (refer to image). Platter is 16.25 inches in width. Depth is 11.75 inches. Height is 1 inch. A wonderful and highly functional meat plate. Definitely one for the collectors! A truly special antique lot well worth owning. The condition is excellent and all it needs is to be used. It is engraved with a divine lion rampant crest and always has been. Would make a very nice present indeed. This lovely platter is of exceptional quality and is a most delightful piece of hefty table silver. Weight of silver is a staggering 1467 grams (47.17 troy ounces), each piece is made of very thick gauge silver throughout. Splendid and large piece of antique silver. It is in very good pre-owned condition with tarnish and some wear, one handle on the tray has a crack as shown. The tray measures 30″ long handle to handle and 25″ by 19 without handles. Samovar stands 15 3/4″ high with the stand and 11″ high without, the stand is 6 1/2 in diameter on the base. Teapot measures 10 3/4″ high to the top of the lid and 10 3/4″ wide from spout to handle. Coffee pot measures 11 1/2″ high to the top of the lid and about 12″ from spout to the handle. All pieces are marked as shown.
