A charming Antique Picnic Tea Basket. 1900 – 1910, English, I think. From an era in which an elegant little tea could be enjoyed anywhere. The set includes one china cup and. Two saucers in a beautiful aged wicket basket. Held by an old leather strap. There are two silver plate spoons, marked I/O. They hook to the side of one of the containers. Two embroidered linen napkins that have some age related spotting. But no holes or tears. There are two hinged silver containers, one still has loose tea inside. Also includes a silver match box, silver tea kettle and burner. There is a mark inside the match box, but I can’t read it. I believe all items are silver plated, as there are no other markings. They are tarnished, but would polish up easily. The inside of the lid has a silver insert and serves as the tea tray. There is a bit of wear to the wicker, a couple of breaks, but still in marvelous condition. With a wonderful patina only found with age. Some old candle wax drips – very romantic! The wicker case measures 11 inches long x 7.5 inches wide x 8 inches tall. The leather strap is in tact, but is aged and fragile. This lovely tea basket is in original “as-found” condition.
