Limiting part of my horn collection otherwise this horn would not be here. Antique vintage Selmer 4 PLACE DANCOURT which is I believe the first location of Selmer company. This is almost 100 years old legendary Selmer flugelhorn and one of the first in production below serial #500 which is #433. Personally I have never seen one from this early era before and its possible that not many were made or survived since Selmer made more trumpets and saxophones. Horn is in good condition and still plays. NOTE: THIS HORN WAS COMPLETELY WASHED INSIDE OUT HOME METHOD WITH BRUSHES AND LIQUID SOAP WHEN I GOT IT. Valves plating is not bad but valves have leakeage due to age. Also has a couple of small patches like one around the pipe coming into 1st valve , brass correction of the leg of 1st slide and some soldering and possible also leg correction on the 2nd slide. 2nd slide was greased with heavier grease so it sits better and tighter in the slides pipes. PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS! The pipe coming out from 3rd valve has a crack not all the way where silver line is missing but I put a scotch tape to cover a leak and please see other area near water valve I did not put tape there dont see crack there but might be a hairline crack. You can put a tape there as well. If you wanna work on this flugel I recommend a brass patch going from 3rd valve area on the interior of that pipe towards bottom pipe brace which brass person could install? It all depends how much you will play? ! Or if its just for a collection? IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK AS SALE IS FINAL. Bell has small crease on top edge not all the way around but hard to notice. You can see it on bell photo. Engraving is crisp and silver plating appears to be original factory. Leadpipe appears to be original French taper. Compression is good / fair. Please notice bottom caps have bottom holes opened and one finger bottom is slightly smaller than other 2 but matches pretty well. There are few dings on the bell pipe around no major dents. Price is on the higher end due to historic nature as well as very early serial range. These two factors go together and it is a collectors item for sure and rare. NOTE : If you are looking for a perfect playing flugelhorn please go to my other listing and at the similar price range i have modern Schilke 1040FL but if you like a horn with a vintage charm then this Selmer js for you.
