Vintage HN White King Cornet with Original Case 1905-1910, Silver Plated
This HN White King cornet is in functioning condition as-is, but has plenty of wear from previous use. Cosmetically, the silver plating is in decent condition overall, but has loss in the common areas. Slides and valves are free and functioning. Valve plating is not good, most notably on the first; thick oil compensates, but it is still very noticeable when playing. The leadpipe has had work in the past; it isn’t clear what sort of repair is hiding underneath the large patch. It has had minor soldering work on a few of the braces and dent repair on the bell and bell bow. The engraving is crisp. It comes with the original case, lyre, and mouthpiece (not sure if it’s original, but looks era appropriate). The case, although functional, has staining in the interior and plenty of exterior wear and tear. The mouthpiece has nicks throughout the body / shank and there are plating loss throughout (including the cup). Overall, it is a playable antique that could be left as it sits or could be a nice candidate for a restoration project. Yes, original case included and functional. Not in excellent condition but does have life left to live. Yes, but not sure if it is original and has a lot of wear and tear. General chem clean was done, replaced corks and felts, minor leadpipe alignment, but didn’t go too far due to the patch. 1892 Vintage Henry Distin Cornet Superior Silver Plated Used
1892 Vintage Henry Distin Cornet Superior – Silver Plated. This cornet has been in storage for more than fifty years. It was recently discovered during a cleaning and purging. We are by no means cornet experts, but we’ll do our best to describe it in as much detail as possible. Description: From our limited research we believe it’s an 1892 cornet based on its serial number of 7288. Makers Williamsport PA Highest Grade 7288. The cornet looks to be 100% complete with original mouthpiece. There is obvious tarnishing over the whole instrument and the bell has prominent dings/dents. There are other smaller dents on the tubing, mainly near the shepherd’s staff. The rest of the tubing looks to be in much better condition with one or two very small dents. All three valves work and the valve nuts are free. All the slides work and the water key release springs nicely, though the pads are out of adjustment. There looks to be a small repair at the bridge of the water key release mechanism and there is brass showing on the bottom most tube near that release. The solder joint has also come loose on the tube as shown in the last picture. Hopefully we’ve given a decent rundown of condition. If you have any further questions about the Cornet please ask and we’ll do our best to answer them. A note about pricing. Vintage Olds Ambassador Cornet Los Angeles, 1954, Silver Plated, Case
For consideration is a vintage FE Olds Ambassador cornet. The serial number, 139316, dates to 1954 and makes it an Los Angeles model. It is in nice condition overall, but does have general wear from past use. There are a few dings, as pictured, and the bell has a slight warp. No issues to affect play-ability. There are a few joints with messy solder spots, but they’re tight. The valves are in great condition, have minimal wear, and are ported nicely w/ new felts / corks; serial numbers match. The silver plating is in good condition, but has wear in the normal spots. The water-keys have new corks. The slides are free and compression is good. The horn has been chem cleaned and is gig ready. The original case is included and is functional, but has plenty of wear (and sticky residue on the exterior from past decals). One of the nicest Conns I have offered in years, this two tone instrument features the large bell engraving, with fully gold plated bell, and gold plated accents. The horn is equipped with Low Pitch slides (modern A=440), and still has the auto intonation mechanism for quick change from Bb to A. Condition is rated as Near Mint, with a few slight tool marks around the mouthpiece receiver. The rest of the horn looks downright new, and it plays absolutely beautifully.
