USA J W York Vintage Tenor Saxophone Matt Silver Plate (1920/30s Model). IMPORTANT: vintage saxophones, including this York, have a highly distinct character, which is very different from modern instruments. The ergonomics, tuning, and tone will all be unfamiliar to the average player, and finding a properly compatible mouthpiece may be a challenge. This listing is intended for experienced saxophone players or collectors who are already familiar with these older American instruments, and are looking specifically for the unique sound which they can create. For more details, please see the question (below) from a collector/player.. If you need any specialist guidance then I can set up a dialogue with our on site woodwind technician. Made in Grand Rapids, Indiana, USA. As with all of our instruments, this saxophone has been fully serviced and tested by our woodwind technician to ensure that it plays well. Our sax technician is a specialist known to many of the pro players who work on the London circuit. He has serviced and set this up to play well. It has a handful of dings and dents around the bow, which have been pictured above, but otherwise the condition is good for something of this vintage. You are most welcome to visit and test the instrument in our playing room prior to making a commitment. We can often arrange a home trial; contact the showroom for more details. Collection in person is always welcome. We can arrange for the item to be sent to most European countries (door to door) via an international carrier. Cash on collection is also welcome. If you have any further questions about this item, or would like to test it in our showroom in Beaconsfield, South Bucks, please do not hesitate to call. Our showroom is situated approximately 25 miles from central London, close to Junction 2 of the M40 (first junction west of the M25 interchange). Rosehill Instruments Ltd 01494 671717 (showroom) 64, London End, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 2JD. It was founded by Trevor Austin (father of Paul) who was previously a euphonium player in the Horse Guards (and played on horseback at the Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953). Following long service in the Salvation Army as a player and conductor, his reputation led to requests to supply instruments around the UK and overseas. Rosehill is now led by Trevor’s son Paul. The company was awarded a UK government contract in 1999, and since then has been an approved supplier of musical instruments to Her Majesty’s military bands. We also repair, refurbish and service all brass band and military band instruments at our workshops in Beaconsfield. As well as drawing customers from all over the UK, we also supply many instruments to bands and players overseas.
