VINTAGE WHITE STAR LINE UNKNOWN PATTERN SILVER-PLATED GRAPE SHEARS, Engraved with the WHITE STAR LINE “FLAG” Logo, a GRAPE CLUSTER; and Engraved “CAFE PARISIENNE”, and the Maker’s Mark, AP & Co. TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES… They are part of our description. Silver Tarnish is beginning to develop… Visible when they are open, could use a Polish… They open and close beautifully. These Elegant Grape Shears have the WHITE STAR LINE “FLAG” Logo Engraved on the Hinge area Circle Cartouche. There is a GRAPE CLUSTER also Engraved in Circle Cartouche on the Handles (just below the finger hold). The HANDLES also have a Unknown BELL FLOWER Type Pattern, with Cross Hatching and other Decorative Elements… When the Shears are open (on the inside of the Blades), the Makers Mark Logo, for ARTHUR PRICE & Co. (in business since 1902), they produced items for the WHITE STAR LINE… USE MAGNIFYING TOOL on the PIC’s to view It in detail. Overall size is about 6-1/2″ Long x 2″ Wide. Weight is about 3.2 Ounces on my Postal Scale. They were run Independently and Managed by Luigi Gatti, who died onboard the Titanic when it sank. It set sail across the Atlantic on April 12, 1912, and sank after hitting a iceberg on April 15, 1912 in the Atlantic. Several different spellings for “Cafe Parisienne” have appeared… I have found 3 different ones so far, Cafe Parisien, Cafe Parisian found on Mr. Gatti’s key ring, and Cafe Parisienne (as appeared on Harland & Wolff Original Marine designs). This may be one reason why this pair of Grape Shears, with this particular spelling, “Cafe Parisienne”, has survived. Due to the inconsistency in spelling of “Cafe Parisenne” prior the Maiden Voyages, they may have been removed prior to sailing; or, may have been taken as a souvenir at one of the stops before setting off across the Atlantic, or at some later point in time… We’ll never know.
