This family of English jewelers & silversmiths dates back to the late Georgian and early Victorian era in England. John Birks went to Montreal around 1832, to open up a shop there. In 1840, Henry Birks was born. In 1879, Henry Birks and his sons became known as the Henry Birks & Company. Their superior quality workmanship became world renowned in Canada and England. The service is known as Regency Plate and was manufactured around 1905. The pieces measure the following. Hinged Coffee Pot measures 8.75 inches high and 11 inches wide from handle to spout. Hinged Teapot measures 5.75 inches high and 11 inches wide from handle to spout. Uncovered Sugar Bowl measures 4 inches high and 8 inches wide between the two handles. Creamer measures 3.75 inches and 5.75 inches wide between the handle and spout. A lovely tea service decorated with a striking pleated design and accented with a rope design, seashell design and large Acanthus leaves. The interior of the sugar bowl and creamer have a gilt finish indicative of a superior manufacturing firm. The four, seashell decorated feet will keep the pieces off from the table and prevent heat and moisture marks. This exceptional set is in. EXCELLENT READY TO USE ESTATE CONDITION.
