During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand. Taxco is the location of many silver mines that have been around since the time of conquistadors. During the 1920’s Taxco artisans banded together to start creating silver jewelry, since then Taxco jewelry has been considered among some of the finest craftsmanship in silver jewelry in the world. Mid Century Jewelry was all about being big and bold in design and structure. This beautiful jewelry was inspired by the glamorous nature of the Hollywood regency era. Retro jewelry refers to pieces created in the 1940s and 1950s, a period during which jewelry designers were largely influenced by the changes accompanying World War II. As the name of the period suggests, these designs reflect an infusion of futuristic vision with elements inspired by preceding periods, encompassing a variety of gemstones, shapes, and materials.
