This is a nice example of a. 40s WW2 entry level Breitling “up & down” chronograph , The watch is working beautifully after a full check over , the beautiful horsehide chestnut strap is period correct. It has had a new balance staff & centre seconds hand fitted & been oiled , regulated & tested. The chronograph function works as it should and the watch keeps great time. It is fitted with a Venus 17 jewel calibre 170 as used on a few chronos of the period, it earned the nickname “up & down” as the dials are at 12 & 6 as opposed to 3 & 9 or 3. The movements in the 40s were not signed Breitling should you have any doubts of the authenticity. The watch has great “syringe” blued hands , & has the correct 3 digit case code and serial so you can research this for any piece of mind (and also the case & lugs shape of this Breitling model can be compared with others should you wish to research on any Breitling websites or forums). The dial shows wear as pictured. Consistent with its 80 years vintage , I think it looks excellent , & shows real patina & character. Its a very nice practical watch ready to go. It looks stunning and its 34mm across or 36mm with the crown and 40mm across the lugs the band width is 17mm. Ould make a lovely Christmas present or birthday gift , for the vintage Breitling or chronograph fan, a really wonderful vintage timepiece.
