Vintage Napier Silver Plate Figural Penguin Cocktail Shaker

This silver plated cocktail shaker or jug in the shape of a penguin, with hinged beak as pourer, wings to side, S-shape handle and claw base. The base is stamped with the Napier patent mark D-101559. Designed by Emile Arthur Schuelke, an art deco penguin cocktail shaker was first produced for the Napier Company in September 1936. Rumored she designed this shaker for the New York’s World Fair in 1936. Condition is “Used” with markings and some missing plating, please look at pictures and ask for additional details if required. There is some discoloration around wings, feet and handle with missing plating. The hinged beak is in excellent working order. HEIGHT 12.5 in. Vintage French 1920's faux Coral Drop gold plated silver leverback Earrings

Very convincing French Art deco vintage imitation Coral drop Earrings with gold plated most likely vermeil on silver leverback fittings for pierced ears. The faux material for the drops has a granular texture x 10 and lightweight – possibly hollow glass with a filled core but cannot be certain. It does not have the weight of a glass chandelier drop. The drops measure 30 x 7 mm, the cabochon 6 mm diameter, total earring length 42 mm (1 3/4). Weight 3.1 grams. The sprung leverback fittings have a fluted domed back and rounded wires the same in detail as the ones found on 1920’s imitation souffle pearls – a hollow glass shell lined with a pearly essence and filled with wax. The colour and soft shine of the surface are very close to the preferred French choice in Mediterranean Coral of a soft salmon orange shade which was used for Empire diadems, paired bracelets and waist buckles etc – rather than the the stronger Italian Red Coral with a high gloss finish. Very attractive antique appearance when worn – only you will know they are not genuine organic coral!
