A smashing 84 – piece set of silverplated cutlery in the Art Deco style Strathmore pattern, by Cooper Brothers of Sheffield. Contained in a red felt lined teak canteen, and dating to circa the 1950s. This stylish pattern was first introduced in the 1930s, which is why it is Deco in style, as it was so popular, the manufacture carried on for several decades. All pieces are in an excellent, minimally used condition – many were still wrapped in the original tissue. I have checked every piece, and can just find one tiny mark at the bottom of the bowl of a serving spoon! The knives have a few scratched marks to handles, but I suspect that this is due to them falling out of the lid of the canteen onto other cutlery. This set consists of 8 table knives, 8 table forks, 8 dessert knives, 8 dessert forks, 8 soup spoons, 8 dessert spoons, 4 serving spoons, 8 teaspoons, 8 coffee spoons, 8 fish knives and 8 fish forks. Table knives for example, measuring approximately 9 1/2 long. The stainless steel blades are etched as “COOPER BROS & SONS LTD SHEFFIELD ENGLAND STAINLESS”. Other utensils are marked underneath as “C BROS EP A1 ENGLAND”. Perfect as a wedding gift, and for use at a special occasion. Well-made flatware by a high-quality Sheffield Cutler. Please note that these items are stored in part of the house away from the rest of the family, I have no symptoms of the virus, and I wash my hands before packing anything – we are being very careful when we leave the house (rarely). After time spent in the post, items should not then be contaminated, even if they had been (which is unlikely).
