In 1936, Community introduced a new pattern named Coronation , in honor of the crowning of Edward VIII as King of England. However, as history relates, Edward VIII abdicated the throne prior to his coronation in order to marry his love, an American named Wallis Simpson. This gorgeous silverplated tea set is in that very uncrowned Coronation pattern. The striking five-piece Community Coronation coffee and tea set includes the following pieces. Tray (26.5″L x 14.75″W). Coffee pot (10″W x 10″H). Tea pot (9.5″W x 8″H). Creamer (4.5″W x 4.5″H). Sugar (6″W x 5.5″H). The condition is very good — might be termed antique excellent, given the superb plating, with two exceptions. There is a very slight ding on the coffee pot (see photo) and some not-very-noticeable plating wear on the handle near the lid, where the thumb is placed while pouring. Not totally unexpected for a set of this age. The tray has only the light scratches one expects to see on a 70-80 year old tray that has been in use. The interiors of the pieces are truly excellent clean and ready to use. The teapot does have some very light tea staining of no great consequence. 11 lbs 7 oz.
