Vintage 1930’s Art Deco Era James Dixon Silver Plate & Glass Cocktail Shaker

Vintage 1930’s Art Deco Era James Dixon Silver Plate & Glass Cocktail Shaker. What is slightly more unusual about this shaker is fact that it is half glass and half silver plate – most you see are full silver plate. This lovely example has a push on, cork lined lid which also has an integral lemon squeezer mechanism (see picture 7) – the pouring spout also is cork lined and unusually has a guard chain to prevent you losing the spouts lid – as can be seen in picture 8 the chain has a simple lobster claw clasp which means it’s removable if desired. The glass part of the shaker is a fairly typical form that has an applied glass handle to the side – a nice touch is an acid etched image of a cockerel which is no doubt a fun play on words with it being a’cocktail’ shaker – this was difficult to get a really good picture of but it can been seen in picture 10. Picture 11 shows the makers details as mentioned above and there is also a pattern number of L1988. The shaker measures approximately 20cm in height and the total unpacked weight is 740g. The condition all round is fabulous – there is no damage to the glass whatsoever in the form of cracks, scratches or chips – the silver plated parts are superb with no rubbing or plate loss – the corks to the main lid and pouring spout are both intact and excellent condition – all round the item is extremely clean and ready to use and it would be perfect for late summer cocktails or perhaps you may want it for the Christmas season! Because it is partly made of glass the item has weighty and solid quality feel to it. Victorian 1800’s James Dixon English Silver Plate Bun Warmer Biscuit Warmer Vtg

It’s from a local estate is this wonderful Victorian bun or biscuit warmer. The inside of the warmer is marked with the James Dixon makers marks and Made in England from the 1800’s. The company started using the Bugle and Banner during the early 1870’s and added the Ltd. In the 1920’s. The dish doesn’t have the Ltd. Dating it to pre 1920 though we believe it to be from the 1880’s determined by the style and design. The warmer is unique in that it features a locking system using pins on either side of the top of the dish. The pins allow for each side to be used without the other side opening up. Each side is opened by pressing down on the pin. Closing the dish tightly locks it in place. The silver plate lovely, shiny and is in good condition as shown. Any pink coloring are reflections from the camera cover. There are no monograms, dents or pitting. The gilt is also in good condition. There are no repairs. It stands about 11inches tall, 9.25 from left to right and 13 inches when open. This is a beautiful English bun warmer or biscuit box by James Dixon. The tray is silver plated and in pristine condition with an exceptional Art Deco design. It is marked on the bottom. James Carr, Aberdeen, EPNS, Hard Soldered, Rd 756906.
