This stylish silver plated oblong tray which has a nice plain design dates from 1920’s / 30’s and is made by silversmith J. Chatterley & Sons Ltd so is a quality piece. This antique tray is a nice weight, is marked to the base with the maker’s mark and is in excellent condition. A nice usable serving tray for food or drinks. ANTIQUE 19thC BURMESE MAUNG SHWE YON & SONS SOLID SILVER BOWL, RANGOON c. 1890

Antique 19th Century exceptionally rare Burmese, Myanmar Solid Silver bowl, repousse’ decorated in high relief depicting different traditional scenes from the Burmese mythology, showing detailed figures set against a chiseled matted background in landscape. The top chased with scrolling bands and base decorated with a thick band of betel leaves. The quality of the bowl is simply sensational and very crisp. Base engraved with the deer makers mark for Maung Shwe Yon & Sons, Rangoon (see page 41, Wilkinson’s Indian silver). Maung Shwe Yon was one of the greatest master silversmiths active in Burma during the British colonial period. MSY died in 1889 and was succeeded by his three sons Maung Shwe Bin, Maung Thu Hlaing and Maung Yin Maung who would continue the family tradition, trading as the Maung Shwe Yon Brothers. This is not to cast shadow on his father who is undoubtedly responsible for setting up the most celebrated Burmese silver workshop and is also known to have participated in International exhibitions, including having displayed his silver at royal courts and now having his items displayed at the V&A museum. Superb Antique, Ornate 1890s James Dixon & Sons Silver Plated Dome Shaped Tureen & Two Ladles. Rare opportunity to acquire a superb piece of British Victorian silver plating history from one of the most reputable English silversmiths of the time, the world renowned, James Dixon & S ons. This is a lovely heavy tureen of fantastic quality with revolving dome top and ornate handles and in generally good condition and it dates back to late 19th century. The silver plating is in excellent order with only minor signs of wear on the inside which is commensurate with age and generally in superb in condition as shown in 12 photographs attached. Please check all 12 photographs as they are an accurate part of the description. Legs are 4/10cm tall. J Dixon & Sons (James Dixon & Sons) founded 1806 in Sheffield, was one of the major British manufacturers in the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century. Their products included hundreds of items for use in the kitchen e. Bowls, cutting-tools and the dining roome. Tea services, cocktail shakers and mixers as well as items like candlesticks for all rooms. They were a world leader in manufacturing shooting accessories through nineteenth century and exported powder flasks in large quantities to America, They were known as whistle makers, which like most of their products were of outstanding quality; they were one of the 4 great whistle makers, the others being W Dowler & Sons, J Stevens & Son & T Yates. [1] It was located first at Silver Street (1806), Cornish Place (1822) Sheffield. Their registered trade mark since 1879 was a Trumpet with a Banner hanging from it. Although registered in 1879, the “Trumpet with Banner” logo was used at times before registration and appears on some of their silver plate pieces. They were one of the foremost names in EPNS and sterling silver tableware including silver tea services and hollowware pieces. They also made silver ware serving pieces and had a wide catalogue of patterns. Their tea sets and hollowware pieces produced in silver are very valuable as antiques. They were also famous for their sporting trophies. The other great trophy is the one presented to the winner of the American Masters Golf tournament held annually in Augusta Georgia. This trophy is a scale model of the clubhouse made in 1959-60 and contains 453 troy ounces of silver. The firm continued to be a family run enterprise until 1976. The patterns are currently owned by another Sheffield firm who export products mainly to the Middle East. Superb vintage Cooper Bros & Sons Cutlery Set / Canteen. Silver plated, sturdy, heavy pieces. Knife blades are stainless steel. Made in Sheffield, England by one of the best makers. 4 large serving spoons. 12 large dinner knives. 12 large dinner forks. 12 smaller knives – salad, starter, dessert. Salad, starter, dessert. All measurements are in photos. Very good used, small signs of wear such as fine surface scratches from previous use only. Silver plate is not worn off. Two dinner forks have been lost and replaced by a different design. The box has been worn, scratches, small dents etc. Range from fewer carbon emissions to saving water and reducing waste.
