Filling the lower bowl chamber (beneath the insert dish) with ice chips provides. Refrigeration to food placed atop the insert dish for hours (when replacing ice chips)! Victorian/Art Deco style ribbed/fluted embossed design to the dome lid. And exquisite embossed details to all 4 legs & lion clawed base feet. The overall silver plating has slightly faded to a light yellowish brass. The interior has no corrosion, pitting or stains. Original insert dish with beautiful pierced leaf designs.
