This is for a very nice Vintage Art Deco Style Cutlery Canteen & Contents probably dating from the earlier part of last century. Comes with 60 pieces, many of which have faux bone handles or are silver plated, many pieces have been replaced over the years but they all appear to be from the same period. The canteen itself is a lovely period piece appearing to be in Oak with Art Deco style features to each side at the front, cut out stepped design to the front and both sides which is again typical of the period. Double ridged edge to lid, working brass catches. When opened the lid remains upright with arched brass retainers to both brass hinges. Fitted internally and lined in a brown plush material with label ” British Patent No 418241″. To include all contents as per photographs which includes. 6 x Faux Bone Handle Dinner Knives – imprinted Sheffield Cutlery, Stainless Steel. 6 x Faux Bone Handle Fish Knives – subtle decoration to blades which are imprinted EPNS. 6 x Faux Bone Handle Fish/Dessert Forks. 6 x Old English Design Dinner Forks – silver plated, 5 matching and 1 slightly larger. 6 x Starter/Dessert Forks – 5 with old English Design, 4 of which match and are silver plated. Well used and worn. 8 x Old English Design Dessert Spoons – 6 of which match and are silver plated. Well used with wear to some of the bowls. 4 x Larger Old English Design Soup Spoons – silver plated. 5 x Smaller Old English Design Soup Spoons – silver plated, well used with wear to the bowls. 3 x Small Preserve/Sauce Spoons – silver plated, well used with wear to the bowls. 3 x Teaspoons – 2 with Old English Design, 1 well used with worn bowl, all silver plated. 2 x Small Silver Plated Cake/Pastry Forks. 1 x Faux Bone Handle Butter Knife. The canteen itself is in good overall condition for age but does have some minor marks and wear to the top. Some of the cutlery is well worn and not all items match – see notes above – but overall makes a very nice set. The canteen is about 46.5cm x 32cm and is just under 12cm high.
