Six Vintage Cast Metal Silver Plated Wading Bird Menu or Place Card Holders

0505 Wading Bird Menu Holders. A set of six silver plated cast metal place card or personal menu holders. They are modelled as wading birds (perhaps ruff or curlew) and set on oval bases. To the far side are rounds with cut outs, and they would be used on the dinner table to hold a name card or a small menu. To the underside there are two marks, but they are somewhat difficult to decipher, perhaps being an S and a C. The half box is likely not original. Date wise the menu holders appear to be post war onwards. They are nicely modelled and very sweet as you can see. One example has been pressed down resulting in a broken leg and a shorter stance than the others, but still perfectly usable. Another has a shorter stance so has perhaps been compressed however there is no resulting damage, others are in good order. If for any reason you are unhappy with your item please let us know as soon as possible, and we will do our best to put things right. 0504 Grouse Menu Holders. A set of six silver plated cast metal place card or personal menu holders. They are modelled as grouse and set on oval bases. To the far side are rounds with cut outs, and they would be used on the dinner table to hold a name card or a small menu. The box is not original, and is probably earlier than the holders which appear to be post war onwards in date. They are nicely modelled and very sweet as you can see. Card holders all in good order with no significant faults. Box is rather tatty and also does not appear original to the holders. Store Maintained By : Ellis Antique. Offered here is an Antique fine quality silver plate Art Nouveau etui necessaire French raised design dance card change purse. Repousse flowers, leaves and swirls. Soft kid leather pocket to hold the dance cards. Two change slots and another covered area to hold round cream rouge and compact makeup. We are attributing this to be from France as we were told it came from. A French war bride’s family. Nice big size, measures approx. 4 1/2″ H x 2 7/8″ W x 3/8 thick. 9 overall, just enough room for your hand to slip in. Condition is good except: some lovely patina with the copper/brass coming through on the tips of the flowers and some higher areas on the outside. One coin section is missing the springy middle. The silver needs to be polished inside if so desired. Weighs 148.4 grams.
