Vintage Rare F. E. Olds Trombone, Serial #1970 One of his early ones, VERY nice
Olds Trombone, Serial Number 1970. I’ve been told this might be older than the 1920 as a super olds would have a fluted slide tube and there is no tuning located on slide and one located around the outside of the bell. If you know what this is I’d appreciate your input. One tiny ding in the bell and front curve. This was sent to me and will give a much better definition of the instrument. These were made from about 1912, which is marked as a patent date on the horn bell, and went to the early 1930’s. Oldest ones have F E Olds on the bell, while later models list F E Olds and Son. Olds moved to Los Angeles and set up shop there making trombones in the early 1900’s. Later he expanded his line to other brass and woodwind horns. After WWII they moved the factory to Fullerton, CA. If this horn has the serial number of 1970 on the slide, bell, or water key, it is one of the first 2000 horns produced in LA. Likely made by F E Olds himself. While not as fast a slide as the Super, or more modern chrome plated inner slides, it is still quite playable, and a collector horn. I believe this is nickle silver because of how this has aged. The inside shines bright brass. To my touch this seems very light in weight. The case has a smell of “oldness” to it. The case itself is still strong with the latches and body of case in sound condition. There are 3 attachments inside please see pics. This was assessed and is playable. It w as cleaned and the TIS moves decently, this has a tuner adjustment that works , no slide lock, the friction fit is a little tight and i was told with this number it is from the late 20’s to early 30’s. This is musical history. Photos show details Questions and comments welcomed. The item “Vintage Rare F. E. Vintage CG Conn New Wonder II'Chu Berry' Alto Sax in Silver Plate Serial 204180
Vintage CG Conn New Wonder II’Chu Berry’ Alto Sax in Silver Plate Serial 204180. This is a nice Conn New Wonder II Chu Berry alto saxophone, serial number 204180. The Conn altos from this period are iconic items from the 1930’s big band era. This one is in good shape and has a good look about it as well. It showcases the original silver plate finish with gold wash bell flare, trill G#, finger nail file G# and the micro tuner neck. The micro tuner is functioning and free moving at this time. The physical condition of the body is excellent. Looking over it closely there is no history of major past repair. Its body tube, rolled tone holes, bow, bell and bell cap are all in great shape. This sax came into our shop on an old set of pads well past their prime and is not currently playing. We would love to do this thing up right but with the long line in our repair shop we need to let some inventory go in as is condition. As such we are offering this one at a lower price point. This sax is in great physical condition and could be a great pro player after a good cleaning and straight forward mechanical overhaul. Vintage Martin Typewriter Alto Sax Original Silver Plate Serial # 99635
Vintage Martin Typewriter Alto Sax Original Silver Plate – Serial # 99635. Very nice original silver plated Martin Typewriter series alto sax, serial number 99635. This model features typewriter like pearl touches on all of the key touches. While not the easiest to play because of this, this horn still have a very warm and sweet sound. The original silver plate on this alto is in tremendous shape, with no major finish wear to speak of. The sax body shows no dents, and the only repair is a resolder on the lyre holder at the top of the horn. This is a bit messy at the moment, but we’ll clean it up during our adjustment. The original neck does show some past dent work, and is missing the octave key guide, but the neck is still functional and plays well with the horn. This alto was just repadded, using brown plastic resonators. Everything is sealing great, though the sax could use some minor adjustment still. Sonically, this alto takes your air well and responds quickly with a fast, lively response. Definitely warmer overall in tonal color, it has a very sweet and lyrical quality to its sound. Though often considered just a collector’s horn, it is a sweet player and if you can forgive the somewhat cumbersome feel of the keywork, it is a cool horn to play. Comes in its original case. Vintage Original Silver Plate Selmer Paris New Large Bore Super Alto, Serial #13689. This is a vintage Selmer Paris New Large Bore Super alto sax in satin silver, serial number 13689. The body of the sax is in beautiful condition showing off the burnished silver finish around the bell deco as well as the keys. Its bell flare also show cases a lovely gold wash. The body of the alto is about as nice as it gets with no history of major repair and no re-solders. Its bell, body tube, bow and bow cap are all in terrific shape. Its neck is also in excellent original condition and has never been pulled down. These early vintage Supers are fantastic free blowing players and tend to be warmer then the Balanced Action models that were made later. This one is currently playing down to a low Bb on older pads. If you are looking to do serious playing on the sax it will ultimately need to be re-padded. It is always a nice treat to find a silver Super in such nice condition. CONN GOLD PLATED FLUTE. ULTRA LOW SERIAL NUMBER # 28. Elkhart Indiana – 1895. NOTE: This Flute would be compete if not for the MISSING CROWN / CORK assembly. NOTE: This flute is NOT playable in its current condition, and does require some repair. ULTRA LOW SERIAL NUMBER!! This approaches being a’museum piece’. In my research I’ve not seen a CONN serial number lower than this one – not even in museum collections. This truly is a piece of musical instrument history. Complete with original case which is wood with a paper-thin leather covering and padded satin interior. The wood is good, but the leather finish is largely broken down. Interior of case shows some of the 120 years of wear, but is entirely serviceable. Nice metal clasps look and work nicely. The case has protected this fine instrument over the decades of non-use. Open at both ends with unmarked lip plate. Most western concert flutes require a CROWN and CORK assembly which is MISSION on this instrument. Keys in the Boehem configuration we believe this flute was manufactured just 30-40 years after this key configuration became somewhat’standard’ for a concert “C” flute. Lovely Engraving just along the flute Made by G. Just the keywork has the gold plating. The head joint connects to the body with a barrel that is removable from the head, though head and barrel would normally remain connected in storage. These joints are good – tight. The body / foot joint is OK, connects easily, but this joint is NOT as tight as it should be. Overall the flute is mostly clean from extraneous soil. However what may be deterioration of pad material and/or keywork lubrication remains on the flute. This is best seen in photos #8, 9, 10. We have made no attempt to clean the flute, deciding to leave that to a future expert. I’m using a diagram from US Patent #5,014,585 (available at US patent office if need be). This patent # is NOT on the instrument, but the keywork matched this diagram better than any other I could find, and the keys were numbered on that diagram in a logical way. I suggest finding that document to follow my discussion below of the key details. If you have trouble, please send a message, I can send this diagram back to you. Key “K2″ (which operates pad P1) has no spring return action – the key is free moving. Key K4 (operates pad P6) is STUCK CLOSED. Note this key is the only one that shows wear from use. The gold plating here is slightly worn just off center of the key. This can be seen in the upper half of Photo #6. Key K9 – the first key on the foot – is free moving, but has no spring return action. Key K10 – moves freely, but has Weak spring return action. Keys K6, K7, K8 move freely, but ONLY as a unit. Pressing any of these three keys closes the pads underneath all three. I tried to free this, but used only slightest finger pressure to do so. I could not free them from one another, and will leave this condition for an expert to review / repair. All the rest of the keys seem to work correctly – freely with good spring return action. No levers are bent, no pads seem to be out of alignment with their respective holes. Please contact me for instructions and possibilities. The alto has a nice punch to the way it plays making the projection and carrying power quite impressive. The body tube, bow, bow cap, bell and bell flare are all in terrific original condition. All of the key work, posts and guards are intact and in great shape. This alto does have all of the classic Conn bells and whistles including rolled tone holes, trill G# and the Naked Lady engraving on the bell. The pearl touches and rollers are all original and in very nice condition. Its original double socket neck is in nice shape as well, with small ding having been removed in the past. The micro tuner is in perfect working order. This alto came into our shop set up on some older pads. Right now it is playing up a storm on the current pads and an older set-up. If you are going to be doing a lot of serious playing on the alto it will need a re-pad before it is in perfect playing condition. Please see the stated policies on our website for more details. Vintage Buescher Silver Plate True Tone Alto Sax Serial # 237xxx

Vintage Buescher Silver Plate True Tone Alto Sax Serial # 237xxx

Vintage Buescher Silver Plate True Tone Alto Sax Serial # 237xxx
Vintage Buescher Silver Plate True Tone Alto Sax – Serial # 237xxx. Vintage Buescher Silver Plate True Tone Alto Saxophone. This model is a series IV True Tone, just before the Aristocrat model – it’s a great vintage. The body and neck are in near perfect physical condition (hard to find even a ding); with no sign of any repair work. The only issue is a that the octave-arm on the neck is slightly bent (though this is minor – see photo of neck, below). The original finish is nearly all intact with virtually no wear, though there is a good amount tarnish. Two notes on the finish: 1 The gold plate in the bell is nearly all worn, so the inner bell only has silver-plating; 2 Some of the finish on the bell and body is dull (see photos), probably due to some earlier polishing, so a thorough polishing is needed to bring out the shine of the plating. The pads are very old and need to be changed, but the horn does play. The Buescher Snap-ins are all intact. The original mthpc is in good condition (needs cleaning). Original case is in very good condition, but the handle is broken; also, the case is a bit musty and needs to be aired and cleaned. Photos are slightly magnified and make some blemishes appear larger than they actually are. Auctiva offers Free Image Hosting and Editing. Auctiva gets you noticed! Track Page Views With. For Sale: A Selmer DeVille B flat trumpet serial # 31851. Jamie died recently, at age 27 of complications from a liver transplant he received at age 11. What I know about the trumpet is that he bought it in DC, It has a new Gaurdian Case brand foam trumpet case /gig bag model # CW012 TP that sells for 72 dollars on Amazon It contains two new looking mouthpieces. One is labeled 3C and looks like a copy of a Bach possibly. The other mouthpiece is a Yamaha labeled 16C4. This horn can be seen/played at my residence in the Juniata section of Altoona. I have many pictures of the trumpet and can take more upon request. From the research I have done on the DeVille Trumpet, it was marketed as a step up horn and most reviewers describe the tone as bright. Vintage Silver Plate Conn Bass Saxophone Recently Restored Serial Number 37238
Vintage Silver Plate Conn Bass Saxophone – Recently Restored! This is a super awesome Conn bass saxophone we just got in the shop, serial number 37238. Lately we have been very blessed to have a small number of bass saxophones come through our shop. This one in particular is very special because it is a vintage Conn and it was also recently restored in a pro shop. The body and original neck are both in great shape. All of the straight tone holes on the instrument are also in pristine condition. These soldered tone holes were all properly addressed and will now be good for another 100 years. The overhaul also included fitting the sax with all new leather pads and brown plastic resonators. If you are looking for a great playing bass with good pads this is about as good as it gets. Usually we see these horns showcasing bad dent and solder work. This is very much not the case on this instrument. The upper U tube area and tube cap are in excellent condition and have never seen any major work. Its body tube is very pristine as well going all the way down to the bow which is also outstanding. The extended bow cap is in great shape and has never been pushed into the body. Its bell and bell flare are in great shape. The bell flare does show off the gold wash finish. This saxophone does include the original neck. Like the saxophone the neck is also in very good original condition. Because of time constraints Saxquest is not going to go through this instrument with our full set-up. Please see the stated policies on our website for more details.
