1892 Vintage Henry Distin Cornet Superior – Silver Plated. This cornet has been in storage for more than fifty years. It was recently discovered during a cleaning and purging. We are by no means cornet experts, but we’ll do our best to describe it in as much detail as possible. Description: From our limited research we believe it’s an 1892 cornet based on its serial number of 7288. Makers Williamsport PA Highest Grade 7288. The cornet looks to be 100% complete with original mouthpiece. There is obvious tarnishing over the whole instrument and the bell has prominent dings/dents. There are other smaller dents on the tubing, mainly near the shepherd’s staff. The rest of the tubing looks to be in much better condition with one or two very small dents. All three valves work and the valve nuts are free. All the slides work and the water key release springs nicely, though the pads are out of adjustment. There looks to be a small repair at the bridge of the water key release mechanism and there is brass showing on the bottom most tube near that release. The solder joint has also come loose on the tube as shown in the last picture. Hopefully we’ve given a decent rundown of condition.
