Vintage 8 Place Setting 79 Piece Asprey Bond Street A1 Silver Plated Cutlery Set. A super set of cutlery in a reasonably good used condition, 8 place setting consisting of. 3 Piece Carving set. Unfortunately I have not been able to identifiy the pattern. Silver plated sets of Asprey Cutlery appear to be very uncommon. Forks & Spoons are marked ASPREY A1 (A1 indicates top quality silver plate). Knives have steel blades and are marked “ASPREY BOND STREET ALPHA RUSTLESS”. Fish Knife blades are marked “ASPREY A1 21″ but the fish knives are not marked at all. The steel is marked “HARRISON BROS & HOWSON MADE IN ENGLAND”. Harrison Bros & Howson made pieces for Asprey as well as supplying the Royal Family. The company ceased in the Mid 20th century before reforming in 1978. All the other pieces of cutlery with Alpha Rustless Blades that I have found appear to date from the 1930’s to 1950’s so I imagine this set is of that age. I have included a number of photos and these probably describe the item better than I can and form part of the description. Mostly there is no plate loss except to the carving utensils which all have some wear to the top of the handles and I spotted a small spot of wear to a fish knife in the same spot. There is scratching from use on most pieces, a few blades have some staining, one of the table spoons has some marks as do some of the handles of the Fish Knives. There may be other small marks on some peices. The knife blades appear to be in a good condition. Please see photos including extra ones in the listing. Total weight of the Cutlery is about 4.5kgs.
