Stunning Antique Silver Plated footed Biscuit Barrel Produced by The Atkin Brothers Sheffield. Superb two layers, the outer layer hand chased, the time consuming work displaying ribbon work, swags tails and a blank cartouche ready to be engraved, the inner layer is smooth, the lid is finished with pretty ornate floral finial. The signs of quality, professional and intricate handcrafting are apparent throughout this entire piece. The barrel itself measures H 12cm x W 12cm Bottom plate measures 18cm across. Overall height 19cm to top of finial. The barrel is a fine period correct antique. All silver-plating is intact and I suspect this has been loved and re-plated at some point in time there is no dents or dings or flaws. In very clean, remarkable excellent condition. Antique Wooden Light Oak & Silver Plated Tea Caddy – Atkin Bros. A very fancy tea caddy, engraved/chased lid, top and bottom of the box is decorated in raised garlands and it sits on 4 ball feet. Marked with the Atkins plated stamp “ABS” as well as “LL” an old mark used by this company. I have included a number of photos and these probably describe the item better than I can and form part of the description. Condition: The box itself is structurally sound. The silver plating is tarnished or worn with scratches and marks. The area behind the hinge is really badly tarnished but it does come off to reveal a shiny metal underneath although this is not the case for the main part of the lid. Inside there is there is scratching. The shield has lost most of its plating. The front corners are very slightly bent over. There is no key and the lock is untested. Please also see photos. Size: 20.5cm by 13.5cm by 11cm high. Internal dimensions 16.3cm by 8.7cm by 9cm deep. I will try to answer questions as soon as possible, but this will normally be in the evening.
