12 piece Antique Sterling Silver Plate Fish Cutlery Ornate Sea Monster Design #2

Antique Sterling Silver Plate Fish Cutlery Set for 6 #2. This beautiful set for 6 people is in very good condition. The pieces are simply marked Sterling Plate. Both the knives and the forks have hollow handles with rounded ends and a simple double line outline design terminating in a widows peak detail at the end of the handle. The silver plated blades and fork tine sections are ornately engraved with a sea monster motif which curls under the tines on the forks and spreads out along the length of the blades. The plating is in extremely good condition and the only faults we can find are small spots of plate loss to the very edges of the blades and to one side of the fork section at the base of the upward curve toward the tines. We believe this is most likely caused by the set being held together with rubber bands. The rubber reacts with the silver and small spot loss occurs. These spots are small, minor and occur in unobtrusive places. We describe them but more often that not people don’t even notice this type of silver loss. There are no dents or corrosion spots or deep scratches. There are very fine usage marks and the pieces have a lovely patina only age and gentle use can give. The knives measure 210mm long and the forks 200mm long. A handy guide is 25mm or 2.5cm is a little less than 1 inch, so 100mm or 10cm is just less than 4 inches. Cased box(2) + set 153 Piece Italian Cutlery Set Setting Vintage Silver Plated. Yes an amazing 153 piece set it has been slightly used at Christmas times etc when we had lots of people for dinner. I believe the set dates to the middle of the 20th century although I have put them in a newer box which will actually hold a 12 piece set so there is plenty of room for expansion. Set includes 6 Serrated Table Knives 6 Dessert Knives 6 Table Forks 6 Dessert Forks 6 Dessert Spoons 6 Soup Spoons 6 Tea spoons 2 Table Spoons Total weight is just under 6kg. I have included a number of photos and these probably describe the item better than I can and form part of the description. Condition: In a generally good used condition, there are scratches from use and the odd mark. On the whole in plating is in a really good used condition, as far as I can see there is one fork that has some light wear to the back. The box is not original to the set, it does have a little knock to the back corner and the odd small mark internally and externally. Please also see photos.
