This wonderfully unusual mid-Victorian wide band ring is set with three rows of genuine elephant hair and made of silver plated metal, with three retaining cross bars. This type of jewellery was brought back as souvenirs from their Grand Tours by the gentry of Europe during the high Victorian period. Not only beautiful jewels, they functioned as reminders of their trips and symbols of their worldliness too! It dates from around 1870 and is in very good, fully wearable condition throughout, with slight silver plating wear but no loss or damage. It weighs 4.5 grams, measures 8 mm wide and its ring size is 6 US / L ½ UK – not resizeable.
